I had always thought I’d make the card, but instead I tried to keep the card simple and make this Germanic-inspired nondenominational quasi-amish holiday decoration.

This was my favorite color combo. Variety is overrated, sometimes.

I’m sure there is some weird parental rose colored glasses thing influencing this perception, but it’s just so satisfying to see a woman put on the jewelry I made and see it transform her outfit.

I have tried to own my creepiness (and realize it is not all that creepy coming from another lady) by asking to take photos of the customers before they go off into the world with them. Here are a few of my favorites:

This lady bought my last ribcage necklace. And she is wearing a leather jacket. Come on. Amazing.

All night at this craft fair, people were telling me that my pieces looked Native American. That’s always weird, when in a certain light, in a certain venue, I get feedback that is so consistent, and different from what I’ve heard before. Then this lady with straight up teepees on her shirt buys the first bracelet in this style that I’ve ever made. How could I not take a picture?

I have enjoyed making wearables so much because they are enlivened by the wearer, and I think that I feel they are not complete until they are in use. That’s why I am so keen on these photos. I’m not creepy, it’s just the work isn’t done yet.

With a little cultural insensitivity, a dumpling steamer makes a lovely display tray.

A trip to the thrift store and an open mind can net you weird wire things, perfect for weird displays of wares.

Get your generous, amazing, sucker friends to man the booth for you so you can spend all the money you just earned.

I am getting the hang of table appeal, I think.

This is the sort of felt that was likely used for any elementary school costumes: bright, acrylic, and more prone to fuzz than the wool felt I usually use. But the candy colors can’t be beat. Realized that the size and density of my bracelet design was a good match for this material, and let me cram in a skittles-esuqe variety of hues.

Luckily, a bit of wonkiness to the edges can add a bit of personality to a piece, while the triangular pieces benefit from a bit more geometry.  After putting some generous friends who didn’t know what they were getting into to work, I was able to assemble earrings and necklaces with quite a few color combinations.
